Vacancy for Research Officer
The Ministry of Finance would like to announce a job opportunity for a Research Officer as part
of Timor-Leste’s preparatory work with the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a United States
Government foreign assistance program designed to “reduce poverty through sustainable
economic growth” in developing countries. Timor-Leste, which is eligible for the assistance,
through the Ministry of Finance has a vacancy for Research Officer.
Objective of the Position:
The candidate must understand socio-economic conditions of Timor-Leste and he/she has an
experience relevant to research, especially data collection and analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the MCC-Point of Contact, the Research Officer undertakes the following
tasks but not limited to:
1. Gathering information on economic and social conditions of Timor-Leste relevant to the
MCC preparatory needs;
2. Lease with relevant ministers, and agencies and development partners;
3. Support preparation and organization of constraint analysis, public consultations, concept
paper development, and feasibility studies, including report writings;
4. Other tasks assigned by the MCC-POC.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Master’s Degree in economics, political science, education, agriculture or equivalent. BA
Degree with substantial experience in research also qualify;
2. Have several years of experience in socio-economic research;
3. Ability to use Microsoft-Word, Excel and Power Point;
4. Ability to speak and write in English;
5. Able to engage with these positions for one year, probation of 3 months apply.
6. Able to work in a team;
7. Able to work with minimum supervision;
8. Able to supervise staff (s); and
9. Able to travel to districts.

in developing countries. Timor-Leste, which is eligible for the assistance, through the Ministry of Finance
have a vacancy for Administration and Finance Officer.
Objective of Position:
The candidate must understand administrative and financial works in order to contribute substantially to the
rigors of the assignment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the MCC-Point of Contact, the Administration and Finance Officer undertakes the
following tasks but not limited to:
1. Lead the construction of filling system, correspondence and public relations;
2. Manage financial aspects related to the preparatory works of the MCC;
3. Lease with other parts of Ministry of Finance, relevant ministers, and agencies and Development
Partners;
4. Support preparation and organization of constraint analysis, public consultations, and feasibility
studies;
5. Other tasks assigned by the MCC-POC
Qualifications & Experience
1. At least has a BA degree in economics, political science, education, and agriculture or equivalent;
